Couples sessions
Couples counselling in Ahmedabad
Couples counselling gives the two of you a calm place to talk, be heard and understand what keeps getting in the way. I work with adults aged 18–65 at any stage of a relationship, in English, Hindi and Gujarati, by video, phone or in person in Thaltej, Ahmedabad. Either of you can make the first contact.
Request a free introductory callWhy couples come
Every couple is different, but some themes come up often:
- Conversations that turn into arguments, or stop altogether
- Trust that has been shaken
- Pressure from family or in-laws
- Disagreements about parenting
- Feeling distant, or wanting more closeness
- Big changes such as a move, a new baby, a job change or loss
You do not need to be in crisis. Wanting things to feel easier between you is reason enough.
How a first session works
We start with the free 20-minute introductory call, which is a chance to ask questions and see whether we are a good fit. It is not a therapy session. In the first session we talk about what brings you both in and what each of you hopes to work on. There is no pressure to share everything at once. Sessions usually last 45 to 60 minutes, and we agree together how often to meet.
How I work with couples
I draw on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and person-centred approaches. In practice that means helping you notice how you each think, feel and respond, practising clearer ways to talk, and keeping the work focused on what matters to the two of you. I do not take sides or decide who is right, and I cannot promise a particular outcome. If it helps, I may suggest a short exercise to try between sessions. These are always optional.
If you are unsure about staying together
Some couples come knowing they want to stay together. Others are unsure, or are thinking about separating. You can come either way. My role is to help you each understand what you want and talk about it more clearly, without pushing you toward a decision.
When couples counselling may not be the right setting
If there is abuse or you feel unsafe, joint sessions are usually not the right place to start. Please tell me, and I will help you find appropriate support. If you are in crisis, use the helplines listed on this site. These sessions are not psychiatric diagnosis, medication or crisis care.
Online or in person
You can join by video or phone from wherever you are, including from different cities, or meet me in person in Thaltej, Ahmedabad. For video, a private space, a steady connection and headphones help.
Common questions
- Can we come if only one of us is ready?
- Either of you can make the first contact. We can talk through how to begin on the introductory call.
- Is couples counselling confidential?
- Ask me to explain how confidentiality works, how records are handled and any limits to it before you begin. Keep your first enquiry brief, and avoid sending clinical records or identity documents by email.
- How long will we need to come?
- Everyone’s pace is different. We agree your goals together and revisit them as the work progresses. There is no guaranteed timeline or outcome.
- Can we attend from different cities?
- Yes, by video or phone.
- What if we are already thinking about separating?
- You are welcome. I can help you think and talk it through without pushing a decision.
